Online IVI seminar on Gonioscopy

Optometry Students attending Online Seminar on Gonioscopy

The thirteenth online IVI workshop on Gonioscopy at Amity University Gurgaon. was directed by Uday K Addepalli from the extraordinary LV Prasad Eye organization at Hyderabad. The discussion was on Gonioscopy. It incorporated the rule, sorts and systems for Gonioscopy. This was a piece of the arrangement of online addresses being directed by the India Vision Institute in relationship with the Brien Holden Vision Institute and radiated all the while to optometry schools all over India. This means to enhance the standard of optometry training in India. This was gone to by the third year under graduate and first year post graduate optometry understudies of Amity University Gurgaon. The workforce from the office additionally went to it.

Online Session for Institutional Development at AMITY UNIVERSITY


An online session for Institutional Development was conducted for the heads of Optometry Institutions on 29/01/15 by the India Vision Institute. This was conducted in association with the Brien Holden Vision Institute. This lecture was attended by Prof Monica Chaudhry, HOD of the Department of Optometry and Vision Science, Amity University Gurgaon. Mr. Luigi Bilotto, Public Health Optometrist, Brien Holden Vision Institute,Montreal –Canada conducted the session. Post the session Prof Monica feels”Topic covered a very important and sensitive topic of curriculum standardization in India. It is the first step towards regulating optometry. IVI should play a role in reviewing the curriculum of the participating institutes and provide feedback on the curriculum status helping us improve further. We are proud users of BHVI optometry resources in our courses.

Bausch and Lomb training workshop at Amity University Gurgaon



A Bausch and Lomb training workshop was conducted on 23/01/15 by Mr Pushpendra Singh, Professional services (North India) Bausch and Lomb, India at Amity University Gurgaon as part of the interaction with the industry for the students. It was attended by sixth semester students of Bachelor of Optometry and Fourth semester students of Master of Clinical Optometry. A detailed session was conducted on multi focal contact lenses that are prescribed for presbyopia or what is commonly called as “second sight”. This was followed by hands on training.

Vision screening camp organised by Amity Medical School Gurgaon


A medical camp was held on 13/01/15 at Para village, near Amity University Gurgaon by Amity Medical School Gurgaon. Vision screening was conducted by the students and faculty of Dept of Optometry and Vision science, AUG. 8 postgraduate and 12 undergraduate optometry students were involved in the screening. A total of 106 patients were tested. Of these 14 patients were referred to our campus clinic at AUH for detailed evaluation and 4 patients were referred for cataract surgery to Ahooja Hospital, Gurgaon.

The Russian Language students of Amity University Gurgaon participated in "Days of Russian Language, Literature and Culture"


The Russian Language students of Amity University Gurgaon participated in "Days of Russian Language,Literature and Culture" held at Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), New Delhi on 11 Feb, 2015, organized by Embassy of Russian Federation. The second day of the event, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War(1941-1945), involved Russian language students from universities and colleges participating in the competitions on items such as dance, songs,poetry-recitals, costumes, poster-making, etc. More than 150 students took part in the competitions.

It was a great effort on the part of the students. The students won first prize in three categories- dance, song and costume competition. Three groups of Amity University participated in the dance competition. They were adjudged at par and shared the first prize.

Students emerged as the best group out of total nine groups which included Jamia Milia Islamia, various colleges of Delhi University, Ambedkar University, Agra University, Meerut University, Amity University Noida and others.
Amity students also participated in the poster making competition, the results of which are awaited.

The students participated in the quiz competition and poetry recital as well, in which they could not bag any prize but the students performed really well.

The judge of the event personally congratulated the students and heaved appreciation on the faculty not just for the performance but also for the costumes selected and the whole preparation.

Brief Description of the Event:

1. The event started at 01:45pm on Friday, 6th February 2015. The event was conducted at Room No – B 402, B Block, AUH

2.      The students were given briefed and instructed about the quiz competition.

3.      The Quiz Maters were:
·         Mr. Arunangshu Bhattacharya
·         Mr. Subrata Pal


4.      There were 120 questions straight with no negative markings.

5.      4 teams were participating in the competition.

6.      Each team would get 2 marks for the correct answer and 1 mark for the passed answer.

7.      It was a competition about sharing Knowledge and Experiences.

8.      The quiz masters even explained the answers to the question which were a bit difficult for the students.

9.      Once the competition was over the winners were announced by calculating the scores.

10.  Teams were as follows:
·         Team A - Sumit, Priyanshu, Akash
·         Team B - Nalini, Amit, Rohit
·         Team C - Sunder Rashika, Deepanshu
·         Team D -Aditya, Bharat, Hemant

Brief Description of the Event:

The event started at 10:30am on Thursday, 5th February 2015. The event was conducted at Nutrition Lab, A Block, AUH

The students were given briefed and instructed about the competition.

They were given a time of one and a half hour to carve the fruits and vegetables and decorate the plate.

The teams were as follows:
      ·         Rohit Yadav and Sunder Singh Bisht
      ·         Bharat Verma and Deepanshu Chhaukar
      ·         Nalini Sagar and Rashika Gosain
      ·         Riya Arora and Nikita Sharma
      ·         Amit Kr. Mahla and Rahul Dahima

When the given time for the competition was over, all the teams were asked to present their art of carving.

The judeges for the competiton were:
       ·         Mr. Subrata Pal
       ·         Ms. Pooja Iyer
       ·         Mr. Akshay Nain

The teams were judged on the basis of:
       ·         Presentation
       ·         Creativity
       ·         Knowledge
       ·         Skill

Once the scores were given by the judges the scores were annouced and the winners were declared.

The winning team was Team A - Rohit Yadav and Sunder Singh Bisht.

Workshop On VLSI DESIGN

A one day workshop on VLSI DESIGN was successfully conducted in Amity University Gurgaon by DKOP Labs Pvt. Ltd. on 29thJanuary, 2015.

Workshop on VLSI 



 delivered their valuable thoughts on the topic. Students of M. Tech ECE (2nd Sem.), B. Tech ECE and EEE (8th and 6th Sem.) attended the workshop. The workshop started at 10:00AM and was divided into two sessions.
Industry awareness, Job Opportunities, Challenges & Scope were few topics covered in the Workshop.
                                      
Students were detailed about the various VLSI design tools such as Cadence, Mentor graphics etc.. Mr. Bharat demonstrated that how an Idea can be converted into a circuit and how VLSI can help our young engineers to become the Entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Students were briefed about the scope of VLSI Design in core electronics companies. They detailed about the 6-week/months regular/summer/industrial training 2015 they are providing at DKOP Labs for the aspiring students.


The workshop ended with a questioning and answering session and was quite interesting as students received a lot of knowledge about the VLSI and UVLSI technologies prevalent in the industry. After this workshop students were confident about the scope of VLSI and the feedback of students was excellent.

Session on ASME Gas Turbine India Update, by Amity School of Engineering & Technology.

Mr. Hemant Gajjar (Member-ASME, Fellow-IEI) delivered a lecture on ASME Gas Turbine India Update at Amity University Gurgaon ,for the benefit of mechanical and aerospace engineering faculties and students. Students were delighted to attend the interactive session.

Brief Introduction of Mr. Hemant Gajjar.
Mr. Hemant Gajjar is a power plant professional. His 30 yrs of experience in power plant encompasseswide spectrum of work in coal and gas based power plants as well as wind and solar plants. He has been involved in project conceptualization and implementation, operation and maintenance of GT based CHP and Power plant, engineering services, commercial and materials management aspects of power project and operating plant, energy efficiency projects, design reviews, due diligence exercises, trouble shooting, and others.
Summary remarks were presented by Prof P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor – AUH. He highlighted numerous applications and utilities of the gas turbines particularly in Indian context. Mr.Hemant Gajjar gave excellent introduction and over view of the gas turbines.

WORKSHOP ON EMBEDDED SYSTEM




A one day workshop was conducted in Amity University Gurgaon on Embedded systems on 22nd January, 2015 by CETPA Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh,Technical Consultant, Cetpa Infotech was the resource person for the event.  Students of ECE and EEE (Sem. 6 and Sem. 8 attended the workshop).

 Following topics were covered:

1.       PCB and Circuit Design Using Express PCB.

2.       Understanding of Layout Designing of Schematic.

3.       Introduction to Embedded System (ARM and Embedded Linux).

4.       Example and Demonstration of Embedded Software tool chains.

5.       Demonstration of one Embedded Project (On Software)

6.       Q&A Session.

Students were detailed about the various PCB design tools such as Express PCB, Proteus, etc.  Er. Sanjay Kumar Singh demonstrated a circuit to teach how to use the Express PCB and Express SCH tools. He also gave an example of precreated complex IC circuit to show the capabilities of Proteus and similar tools.

Students were briefed about the scope of embedded systems in core electronics companies. They detailed about the 6-week/months regular/summer/industrial training 2015 they are providing at CETPA for the aspiring students.

The workshop ended with a questioning and answering session and was quite interesting as students received a lot of knowledge about the VLSI and UVLSI technologies prevalent in the industry.

‘WE-CARE’-SCRAP COLLECTION CAMPAIGN

SCRAP Donation Campaign

Office of International Affairs, Amity University Gurgaon ,has been consistently attempting to groom international students to be sensitive towards society and a better human being.

Treading this path and to create sensitivity and awareness among the international students for the upliftment of the under privileged kids and elderly, International Affairs committee planned for a scrap collection campaign, that is organized and executed by International students. The campaign was launched on 6th Feb 2015, at Parking Ground. Collection had started from 9th Feb onward and last on 11th Feb.

The campaign aims at collecting reusable discarded items which have lost value for the owner but can give new life to another person. Aim is not for any monetary donations or new article but only used items such as clothes, toys, shoes, bed-sheets, etc. Campaign is about encouraging students to engage in this activity contributing “SHRAM DAN” (Donation of Labour) that includes preparation of promotion material and packaging of the collected material.

Aim is to cultivate such philanthropic traits in students so that they can be good human beings when they go back to their home countries they can replicate the same for their local community hand make Amity proud. Through this campaign, wish to create a ripple-down effect to make this world a better place to live.
