Amity School of Hospitality organized an event “Hotel ASH AMITY Tariff Card making competition”.

Amity School of Hospitality organized an event “Hotel ASH AMITY Tariff Card making competition”.  

The event started at 09:00 am on Friday, 14th November 2014. The event was conducted at Room No 103A & 105A.

Students of B.sc HM 3rd Semester and B.Sc HM 1st Semester were the participants. The event was coordinated by Mr. Akshay Nain (Faculty – Front Office, Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Gurgaon) and Report Prepared by Ms. Pooja Iyer (Faculty – Accommodation Operations, Event coordinator, Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Gurgaon).

All students had to prepare a tariff card for their respective hotel which included the type of room, price, some pictures and creative drawing of their own. The students were given a time of 1 hour to complete this task. Then the judges chose two winners based on above mentioned parameters after careful scrutiny.

The winners of the competition were:
1st prize – Amit Kumar Mahla
2nd Prize – Nalini

COMMEMORATION OF RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS (SARDAR PATEL’S BIRTHDAY) BY DEPARTMENTS OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND HISTORY

AMITY SCHOOL OF LIBERAL ARTS, AMITY UNIVERSITY HARYANA

The first Rashtriya Ekta DiwasSardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s birth anniversary – was marked by a series of events organized by the Department of Political Science and Department of History, Amity School of Liberal Arts. The events were planned and executed based on the life and historical and political contribution of the leader credited with having unified India into a viable political entity. Known as the Iron Man of India, he was the blazing torch of “integral humanism” and during his lifetime stood for ethics, unity, human rights and values. His thoughts on equality and rights became the basis of the enumeration of the Fundamental Rights contained in the Indian Constitution. As the first Home Minister of independent India, Sardar Patel emphasized on protection of minority rights while at the same time engineering the unification of a nation as diverse as India. 

Students of BA (Honours) Political Science and BA (Honours) History participated in a discussion on the topic “Contribution of Sardar Patel to history and politics of India”. While Adesh Singh (Political Science Third Semester) spoke on the Sardar’s early life and education, Prabanch N Raj (History First Semester) enlightened those present about the Sardar Patel’s foremost political contribution – the integration of princely states into the Union of India.Pruthvi Sai (Political Science First Semester) provided a brief overview of the major issues addressed by Sardar Patel during his illustrious political career such as the inclusion of fundamental rights in the Indian constitution, the unification of India, the emphasis on minority rights and peace and security for all. The discussion was a learning exercise for all present as the students spoke on various aspects of Sardar Patel’s legacy. 

The discussion was preceded by a pledge led by Aman Choudhary (Political Science Third Semester). The commemoration culminated with the screening of the feature film Sardar, directed by Ketan Mehta for which students and faculty of Political Science and History students showed keen interest.

Closing remarks were made by Prof. Kiran Devendra, Professor of History and Head, Amity Institute of Education, Amity University Gurgaon. She stressed on the need to remember Sardar Patel as a great nation builder and imbibe in our daily lives qualities embodied by the great leader.

Amity College of Nursing conducted a seminar on “Prevention of Ebola Virus”

Amity College of Nursing conducted a seminar on “Prevention of Ebola Virus” in ESIC Hospital Manesar, Haryana dated on 21st October, 2014 as a part of the In-service Education Programme for Staff Nurses.

The main aim of the seminar was to update the knowledge of nursing personnel regarding prevention of Ebola Virus.

The seminar started at 01:00 pm with the Welcome address by Ms Sini Aniyan (B.Sc. Nursing 7th Semester) to all the dignitaries and nursing staff of the Hospital.

The session started with the presentation given by Ms Gyan Jyoti and M. Daya Kumari (Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, 3rd Semester) where they discussed how to deal with the patient suffering from Ebola and prevent their families. They also explained regarding the prevention of Ebola Virus by using personal protective equipment. The session was chaired by Mr Surendra Sharma, Assistant Professor, Amity College of Nursing. It was followed by the demonstration of hand washing technique done by Ms. Jyoti (Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing 3rd Semester)

The post discussion session was conducted and all the questions or queries were answered. The participants expressed that the Seminar was very informative and beneficial to them.  The contents were fully covered and the methodology adopted was appropriate. They also remarked that this Seminar has strengthened their knowledge and enhanced their confidence to work.

They are looking forward for many more sessions like this in near future.

The session ended at 02:30 pm with giving thanks to all the concerned persons & staff of the Hospital.
